Open house for fused glass

Having finally done by final craft show of the year I am now having an 'open house' for anyone to come along to to look at all my glass which will be out on display.  I've still been making things since my last show, more jewellery, another beach hut picture, more Christmas decorations.

If anyone would like to come along, even just for a cuppa & a cookie (which I really must find time to make tomorrow after work), please feel free to pop along either Friday evening, between 6 & 9 or Saturday afternoon between 2 & 5.

I'm at 196 Shephall Way, Stevenage, Herts, SG2 9RD.

Look forward to seeing a few of you (well, a few friends are planning on coming along, anyone else is a bonus).  I am also looking forward to stuffing myself with cookies!

Right, back to tidying up in readiness (sorry, I can predict it will still be messy by tomorrow as I'm off out to cubs soon).

A good weekend

Thank you to all the visitors who came along to Applecroft School Christmas Craft fair yesterday.  It was lovely to hear such good things about my work, put such a big smile on my face, oh, and money in the pot so I can now order my next batch of glass.

Now the only snag is how much stock I need to make for the next shows & an open house I am planning.  (Please let me know if you would like to come along, or bring friends)  Of course, I would be making things now but I am getting the kiln shelves sorted (they need occasional clearing off & re-kiln washing in so glass doesn't stick the shelves).

If I can get it to work, below will be pictures of my current remaining stock (more or less)

Christmas Craft Shows

I've hit that busy time of year now. Frantically making and loading the car to take my glass & cards to local craft shows.

Yesterday at Puckeridge showed me I need to work out how to display some of my items, especially the christmas decorations.  Clear glass icicles with sparkles don't show up on a cream cloth!  So right now I have my lovely husband Scott building various display trees / boards which will hopefully be put to the test next weekend in Welwyn Garden City & Welwyn.

Tomorrow is looking to be a fun day, I'm off with the family down to Kent; firstly to visit my favourite glass shop in Rochester where I can restock with some of my coloured float glass, and then onto Chatham historic Dockyard.

Hope to see  lots more people at the next craft shows (listed under my events tab).  There may be more to add yet, all depends on what I can find & fit in!

Trying to get inspired

The summer holidays are whizzing past and I just don't seem to have done anything with my time. Well, that's probably not really true, I've been to Norfolk for a fantastic relaxing week (if you can count clambering around on a high ropes course -and I hate heights - and paddling in our new inflatable 2 man kayak, as relaxing!). I've started trying to declutter the house, something I should be doing now, hence allowing myself to be distracted writing this. Despite trips down the dump and several carrier bags to the charity shop I still seem to be overwhelmed by things.

So, what should I do today, carry on? Or start making some more glass or cards - hmm... tricky one that. I'm quite tempted by a spot of felting too. I know I should be creative as my next show is on the 2nd of September and I did buy some more glass in Rochester at the weekend. I can't wait to try some of that in the kiln.

But bizarrely (and I blame my late mother for haunting me into this) I am very tempted to carry on with the big de-clutter, try to get sorted before I return to work in about 2 weeks, ...I haven't actually checked the date I go back to school yet, perhaps I should.....

Well, maybe I should do some of both. I could declutter til lunch then create til tea.  If I get creative I shall post pictures tomorrow, and maybe, just maybe, one day I shall set up a folksy shop & find out what Pinterest is all about.

Off to do something......

Welwyn Garden City Craft show next

Thanks to all those who came along on Sunday, I had a good day talking to visitors and other stall holders, there's some very clever creative people out there, and I'm looking forward to meeting them all again in September.

Now, besides a busy week ahead at work, I have to think about next Saturday's upcoming show. I only have a 6 foot table so will be having to think about what to take, and what to leave behind. As I'm out most evenings ferrying the kids around I'm not quite sure when I will find time, but am sure I will. (she says hopefully)

I had a flyer today about Saturday's show so for anyone interested here's the details.

Craft show on Sunday

Getting ready for tomorrows craft show at Welwyn Civic Centre, bizarrely still trying to get more cooked in the kiln, you would have thought I would be a little more organised and ready by now but I always seem to have a last minute rush. The scanner is working whilst I type this, getting my years of goose cards scanned to the pc so I can print & make cards from them. Now what's the betting tomorrow will be really quiet with very few visitors. Ah well, at least I will get a chance to sit and relax if that's the case.
