Craft show on Sunday

Getting ready for tomorrows craft show at Welwyn Civic Centre, bizarrely still trying to get more cooked in the kiln, you would have thought I would be a little more organised and ready by now but I always seem to have a last minute rush. The scanner is working whilst I type this, getting my years of goose cards scanned to the pc so I can print & make cards from them. Now what's the betting tomorrow will be really quiet with very few visitors. Ah well, at least I will get a chance to sit and relax if that's the case.

Well, following a sunny morning yesterday we decided to head towards the coast... oh, okay, to Creative Glass over in Rochester to buy some more glass colours.  Had a lovely browse round the shop, buying a new slumping mould as well as a selection of glass.  Went onto Rochester itself too, very pretty, nice castle & historic town to browse round. Never quite made it to the seaside though. Oh well, next time!

Waiting for the kiln to be cool enough to see the latest batch, it's like the anticipation of Christmas!  More bowls with poppies, cow parsley, yellow & purple flowers. Can't wait.

Quite happy with my glass dish, based on poppies and cowslips growing in the hedgerows. 
Need to start trying more slumping moulds out now!

Looking forward to Living Crafts at Hatfield tomorrow, usually loads to see and do now they have introduced their workshop programme. My daughter and I will be trying as many new things out as we can as well as meeting up with friends for a nice cuppa.  A good way to spend a Saturday I think.

Definitely time to get organised with my making,  the booking form has gone in for my next 3 craft shows at Welwyn Civic Centre - 1st July, 2nd September and 4th November.  Quite excited but I'm sure nearer the time I will just feel manic!

Yesterday was my first real craft show out in the public domain as it were.  In the past I have played safe and settled for a once a year event, selling my fused glass, at the school where I work. 

It seems that for many years I have talked about selling my work, whether that be card designs or paintings, or more recently, fused glass.  In the past few weeks we have visited a few local craft shows to get a feel for them and see where may be a good location without being inspired once.  Then whilst at my local art shop I saw a notice advertising Welwyn Art & Craft fair asking for crafters and artists for this new event.  I didn't think about visiting first, just decided to go ahead and book as it was very local, easy to park (yes, that is a factor for me, some towns have no parking near the event which really does make the idea of unpacking daunting) and a great introductory price.  It was a great day, very friendly and well attended.  Of course, selling quite a chunk of my stock and getting great feedback all helped!

Now I just have two months to restock before their next fair on Sunday 1st July so really I should be at my dining room table working away instead of starting a blog!  Well.... there's always tomorrow (after my day job that is).
